This Week in 2nd Grade

Scarecrow Steve smiles at us all day as we work hard in the classroom!

Our Classroom Focus Walls
Here is our math focus wall. We use this wall as a resource when we need to remember coin value, names of shapes, or clues to addition and subtraction math stories.

This is our language arts focus wall. As you can see, it's ready for next week. It displays our story of the week, genre, comprehension skill, grammar skill, and phonics skill for the week

Indoor Recess
Indoor recess was a ton of fun. We got a chance to play games together as a class or explore math manipulatives on our own.

Star of the Week
Every week we have a new star of the week. This student helps with some of the classroom chores and is our line leader for the week. At the end of the week, our star makes a presentation to the class about themselves, their families, and what they like about school.

Geoblocks
We started a new geometry unit in math. On our first day, we had the chance to explore and classify these 3-D Geoblocks.

Show and Share
In our classroom, students have the opportunity to earn excellent eagle tickets by displaying positive behavior. When you earn an excellent eagle ticket, you get to pick a prize slip. This student chose a show and share prize slip. Here she is showing shells to her classmates before dismissal.
