This Week in 2nd Grade

 Gym Class
We worked on tumbling in gym class this week.

When a student successfully climbs the ladder or the rope, they get to add their name to the poster on the wall. We were very excited with how many students got to sign their name!
Go Second Graders!

Language Arts
Possessive nouns can be very difficult for second graders, especially when we get into plural possessives. We practiced quite a bit and will review again next week.

Here students are working together on cutting out turkey feet to complete their writing project! We wrote persuasive stories about a turkey who tries to convince his farmer NOT to eat them for Thanksgiving.

 Veteran's Day Program
We are excited for our Veteran's Day Program. Thank you student council!

Reading to Someone
Reading to someone takes practice. We always go over the rules and what it should look like when we are reading to someone. We want to make sure we sit EEKK (elbow to elbow and knee to knee). We put the book in the middle so we both can see. We practice being good listeners and how to offer help when our partner is unsure of a word.

Guided Reading
It's always great having an extra set of hands in the classroom during guided reading. Here is our volunteer student from NSU who visits on Tuesdays!

 Math
We have been preparing for a math test on number strings (more than two addends in an equation). Here are our hard working 2nd graders as they take that math test.

Our 100 chart on our name plate comes in handy often during math class.
