This Week in 2nd Grade

Happy Valentine's Day from Mrs. Krause's 2nd Grade!

 Science
We have been studying soil and plant life in science. By planting bean seeds in old CD cases, we can watch the roots grow. It's pretty amazing to see the beans grow and change every day.

More Science
We can all easily fit into our bathroom. This was helpful as we needed a dark room, a flash light, and globe to help demonstrate day and night as well as the changes we experience during different seasons.

Boys vs Girls Adjective Jeopardy
This was such a fun way to review adjectives that compare and adjectives that describe shape, color, size, number, and kind. Although it was a very close race, the boys did win by one point.

Writing
We wrote "If I were President..." poems this week. Here is what one student would do should she become our president! She has my vote!

Math
We explored coins and dollars last week. We found many ways to make 25 cents and even more ways to make $1.00. Our magnetic coins come in handy as students share their coin combinations. This week we will be working on subtraction strategies and then transitioning into making change with coins and dollars.

Music
Our 2nd graders are learning to keep the beat by stomping and clapping along to music. We love music class!
